It was held on September 26 in the city of Serrone, in the province of Frosinone, the ceremony of awarding of the first International Peace Prize in honor of Blessed Pope Paul VI.
The award, in its first edition, wants to recognize the commitment of the men and of the European institutions with the dialogue weapons fighting a tenacious and constant battle for the meeting, negotiation and inclusion and against any form of radicalism, xenophobia and violence.
Three prizes were awarded:
- Vice President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani, for the tireless work at the service of united Europe, Peace and hospitality.
- Dirk Deblieck and Samir Bendimered, representatives of “La Maison des Cultures et de la Cohésion Sociale” of the Molenbeek district of Brussels.
The prize at “La Maison des Cultures et de la Cohésion Sociale” was awarded for constant commitment to dialogue, exchange and welcoming.
- Father Gianfranco Grieco, Vatican journalist, writer and biographer of Blessed Paul VI.
During the ceremony, there was a major interreligious conference coordinated by Dr. Miti Rossi Ferraris, with the participation of Prof. Lisa Palmieri Billig for Judaism, Imam Ataul Wasih Tariq for Islamism and Dr. Luigi De Salvia, secretary of “Religions for Peace”.
